Southern Chemicals Ltd, a Trinidad based Oilfield chemical company in Trinidad, was the preferred chemical supplier for the treatment of problematic paraffin/asphaltene wells in Trinmar Ltd, a major oil producer located in the South West area in Trinidad.

Many international service companies, including Baker petrolite, Champion, Unichem, and Tros paraffin chemicals, were field-tested. A specially designed chemical compound from Southern Chemical ( P-103) was the only product that achieved some success but was not capable of preventing paraffin deposition for periods over one month.
